We all feel the need for romance sometimes. When we sit late at night, mostly alone, but sometimes with friends, we often remember that feeling. The butterflies in the stomach, the endless talks, the sleepless nights, many of us have experienced these memories with people.

There are many people who haven’t had these emotions yet. Those too, seek them many times.

But all of them, seek a romantic feeling in music. It is true, music has the power to express the feelings of people in many ways. Most of us view romance and love in different ways, therefore, we feel the need to listen to different romantic songs or we perceive romantic songs differently.Love

That is completely normal. After all, if you think about it, most artists have written and composed the songs, feeling completely different to us when we listen to them. This is the beauty of human race, the presence of diversity.

Now, let’s get to the playlist, which is probably why most of you are here. There are many songs that have caused emotional romantic feelings to me through time. I value greatly romance and love, especially because I find it fascinating how people crave human interaction that way. Of course, many species experience romantic feelings, but humans have always been dictated by hatred and, maybe, fear, towards their rivals.

So, here is the playlist:

1. All By Myself – Celine Dion Love

I love the songs and the artist. Dion’s voice is powerful and emotional at the same time, therefore it has the power to move every kind of audience. She was one of my parent’s favorite artists, so she is really important to my childhood memories.

2. I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

One of the most well – known love songs of all time, and if you don’t know it I suggest you give it a listen right now! It is from a movie called “The Bodyguard”. It is a cover, the original song was performed by Dolly Parton and it was released in 1973 in the country version. I grew up with the cover song, as well as many people my age, so I suggest you listen to Houston’s version, but since the song is Parton’s, you should also give her a chance. (I Will Always Love You – Dolly Parton)

3. How Deep Is Your Love – Bee Gees Love

How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris and the Disciples will be the first song shown if you search just the title. Even though that song is great, I don’t really find it romantic, so I didn’t include it in the list. And, no, Harris’ song has nothing to do with the Bee Gees version. I absolutely love Bee Gees and their music so I suggest you listen to this song.

4. Say You, Say Me – Lionel Richie

Now, this is a classic. Apart from the fact that you will love this song, it is also really well – known, I believe you definitely know it from somewhere, whether it’s the movies or the radio. So, give it a listen, it might be the song you’ve been looking for for so long!

5. I’ll Be There For You – Bon Jovi

Now, this is for the people who love rock n’ roll a little more. Bon Jovi is one of my favorite bands of all time and it would mean so much if you gave them a chance by listening to this song.

6. More Than A Woman – Bee Gees

I love songs that show admiration and respect for women, even though not many exist out there. This song makes me feel special and it is also created by a great band that I love. I suggest you listen to it!

7. Something – The Beatles Love

The Beatles are classics and they have created many legendary songs, however I couldn’t imagine them writing a romantic song until I found this one. I highly recommend it, especially to people who love rock, but can’t imagine rock n’ roll artists creating romantic songs.

8. Hello – Lionel Richie

I am including another Lionel Richie song because I love his work. Honestly, whenever I think of this artist, romantic songs always come to mind. It’s like he has a talent on this genre.

9. Something Stupid – Frank Sinatra

This is also a classic, but not so well – known, at least as far as I know. I believe that it might have been very popular when it first came out, but right now not many people listen to it. It really is a pity, because the song itself is great and I’m sure you will love it once you give it a listen.

10. That’s Amore – Dean Martin

I love that this song is gender neutral, therefore more people of different genders can relate to it. This is really important when it comes to romance. Since many people experience it in different ways, it is crucial to include as many people as possible.Love

Humans relations have changed through time, some would say that people became colder or less approachable to one another, but this hasn’t affected romantic interaction at all. There’s something in humans that keeps them together, something that gives them the need to interact romantically with each other.

(Keep in mind that I chose these songs based on my experience and they are not necessarily romantic to everyone. Many people may perceive them as boring or not so good, but I decided to include them because they mean something to me and my life’s experiences. Nevertheless, I’d love to read your comments on this topic and feel free to add more romantic songs that you love!)

  1. I am sure this list will be more than helpful for so many people. Romantic songs can be used in so many situations, more than I can think of at the moment and the ones you chose surely are some of the most known ones. Nice list you got there. I can think of a few more that deserve to be on this list but yours is pretty good as it is already.

  2. Hi Dominique
Thanks for sharing your views on the top 10 romantic songs. There are times in the life when you sit alone sand remember your love sitting in the different part of the world, romantic songs strengthen the bond of love. I personally love Beatle’s’ Something. What a magnificent song! Few songs in your playlist are new to me and I will be listening them all.

  3. Wow, this is quite a nice list of some classic love songs. I grew up with a lot of these and can sing them by heart, so it will be fun to create a playlist and sing along while getting gussied up for a date night! I can’t decide if I like the Whitney Houston or the Dolly Parton version of “I Will Always Love You” better. Whitney belts out the passion while Dolly sings it with understated grace — both versions are so beautiful so thank you for mentioning them both!

  4. Hey Dominique,

Good list of songs here, most of these are already in my library. I think anyone who thinks they might have an opportunity to be in a romantic situation and swoon their significant other you need to have these at your fingertips.

I have done this a few times in my relationship with my wife of 20 years and she never forgets it! It is things like this that even after you have fallen in love that keeps you in love!

    Thanks, man!

  5. I love music. It always brings back memories of times past. I totally agree that romantic music can certainly set the mood. I wish more people would listen to this type of music. Maybe then we would be more happy and open to others regardless of who they are. I can’t believe I knew every song you highlighted! I must be pretty old!! I also like how you equated romance in the Dean Martin song to everyone regardless of gender. This is a very interesting post and I enjoyed reading it.
